		<description>/////////////
the "new" bit

Your site is crying out for a favicon.
\\\\\\\\\\\\

/////////////
the "old" bit?

I can't remember if I posted this or not.

This is probably a repost and the first one is pending approval. I really should just assume that. Oh,well.

If your site does in fact have approval for posts - maybe you can have a "your post will be posted pending approval."
\\\\\\\\\\\\

It certainly is hard to define where bloat starts.

Case in point.

I use Firefox and I love it to death. But even with it (A far better browser then the joke known as Explorer) - it has taken me a massive amount of time and effort to set things up as I want.

Firefox extensions
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/ Firefox/browse/type:1
allow you a huge amount of freedom in setting up Firefox as you'd like -and- in controlling how pages look.

First I got addicted to Firefox. And now it's far worse than that. I'm hopeless without my extensions. I -have- to have them.

Using Explorer - even for a few minutes gives me a headache. And now even using a version of Firefox other than my own isn't so much fun. Actually - no fun at all.

I've had to learn things by endless trial and error - and by struggling.

But the hard way has its benefits.

I bet I know more about what available extensions can do than many programmers. I think it's true that I know what existing extensions can do, what they might be able to do, what is not likely and what is probably impossible.

I usually have about 50 to 60 extensions - which is far too many. But what can I do?

Again the question is "It certainly is hard to define where bloat starts."

The extensions do a huge number of things for me. I have extensions that...

# Control how specific sites "act"
- remove ads
- remove 'sneaky' ads like sponsored links
- remove and control Flash
- control animated gifs
- remove stuff on sites or pages I don't want

# Control javascript
I have two extensions just to do that.

# Control the look and feel of
- bookmarks
- the find toolbar
- history
- application menus
- status bar
- tabs

# Manage text, links and images
- text to links: convert text links into links
- html to text: copying as plain text
- text to html: copying text as html
- id links: visual cues for the destinations of links
- Resize images
- open multiple links easily (In separate tabs)
- Open images in tabs (Or in one tab)

# Let me do all kinds of other things
- Block sites
- Do color stuff (like use an eyedropper on a page)
- Control cookies
- Customize gmail
- Customize google
- Manage greasemonkey scripts
- Control forms (fill them out, link to an editor)
- Bypass compulsory web registration with the context menu
- Highlight focus
- Set up keyboard shortcuts
- Dig through URLs
- use Firefox as an irc client
- do massive downloads easily
- use a proxy
- Copy, sort (etc) tables
- use an "IE tab"
- "flatten" all the search results onto one page (So I don't have to keep clicking "next" over and over and over and over and over again).

I even have a "meta-extension" that allows me to easily manage all those extensions. And it vastly simplifies everything. It's priceless. Without it managing everything would be a huge slog.

So you'd think I'd be pretty happy. Well..

The past week I've been trying to find an extension that allows me to make changes like the following per site.

# set the font color
# set the font size
# set the font family
# set the background color
# kill the background image
# set the colors for links (visited, etc)
# set the colors of "elements" on the page: tables, etc.

Nothing fancy. I just want to make simple changes like can be done using bookmarklets. Except -save- the changes per site.

Maybe I'm missing something - but an extension to do those things per doesn't seem to exist.

In my opinion - controlling those things per site should be built into Firefox. Also many extensions have features or functions that should be built into Firefox.

But - of course - that's exactly how bloat starts. "Could you add just this little thing?..."</description>
